My Journey
Hey, I'm Emily! It's an honour to have you here, let me introduce myself. I live in a sleepy seaside town just along the coast from Margate, Kent.
I have always been a creative person, as a child I was always found with colouring pens in hand or building something strange out of scraps. I have also always been a bit of an entrepreneur (I used to sell origami frogs in primary school). As time went on, I found photography. After dabbling during my exam years, I decided to pursue photography as a career. In 2009 I went to the University for the Creative Arts to complete a two year diploma in art, which enabled me to explore the various options alongside some like-minded people.
This acted as a stepping stone into making my dreams a reality and in 2011 I went to Kingston University to complete a BA in Photography. From there I began to build a tutoring business ' The Darkroom at Beach Creative ' (now in it's 9th year!?) which I run alongside my photography work.
Photography encompasses everything I do in life, I am rarely found without a camera in hand, always noticing photo opportunities and observing the world around us.
So, it's safe to say that I live and breathe photography!
It's not always easy being self-employed, it involves wearing lots of different hats. But not a moment goes by when I'm not grateful for trusting my gut and following my dreams.
Little me would be so proud of the path I've taken.
My Philosophy
Over the last 17 years I have been developing my observational eye, learning to notice the intricacies of the world and how we live in it. I'm always looking for unique moments, avoiding formulaic photography and always embracing true emotion. I want you to stay in the moment! I feel passionately that the best photos are candid moments, that capture the true joy of life; the twinkle in your eye, tender moments, and your unique personality. I try to avoid staged shots, never forcing you into awkward poses but rather work with you to create moments that are true to you. The love is in the details, in the gestures, and the glances. My editing style aims to deliver a timeless look that you will treasure forever.
Wedding Photography
As your special day draws closer, I'm sure your nearest and dearest will give you this same advice, "your wedding day will fly by in a flash!". With my observational eye, I will capture the moments that will live on and on in your memories, giving you so much to reflect on and cherish. I have 7 years of wedding industry experience alongside another photographer, and I am so excited to be able to step out under my own name to help you celebrate your special day for years to come.
I love to work with small businesses who are looking for professional photographs that help their business shine. Running a small business is hard yet fulfilling. As a small business owner myself, I can empathise with all the ups and downs. Whether it's creating a stockpile of images for a website or social media, or imagery for publications, I am here to help you to elevate your business. I've designed two packages, (The Busy Bee or The Portrait), to suit your varying needs.
Brand Photography
Life can be busy and fleeting, it's so easy to rely on selfies and quick snaps of you and your loved ones. Both of my family and couples packages (The Explorers and Just Us) are designed to slow down the natural pace of life, creating memories in the great outdoors that will last a lifetime. Designed to be natural with a candid feel to suit your needs. With my guidance, we'll work together to create lasting memories.
